At Quantum Network Technologies (Qunett), we aim to develop the fundamental infrastructure of the quantum internet. As a Quantum Research Engineer at Qunett, you will be at the forefront of this transformation, working with a team of experts to tackle the technical challenges of distributing quantum entanglement and scaling up quantum networks. About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Quantum Hardware Engineer to join our diverse team. As part of Qunett, you will contribute to cutting-edge research and development in quantum networking and solid-state quantum systems. Your focus will include designing and implementing solutions to leverage nuclear spins in solid-state color centers for quantum memory and networking applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research on the control and utilization of nuclear spins in solid-state color centers for quantum networking.
Apply expertise in optics and photonics to design, validate, and test quantum systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance and integration.
Build innovative solutions to achieve target performance metrics for entanglement rates and fidelity.
Assist in technical development, from initial lab bench testing to fully packaged products.
Required Skills:
4+ years of research and hands-on laboratory experience in physics, quantum optics, or a related engineering discipline.
Strong expertise in nuclear spin physics and solid-state color centers, such as SiV centers in diamond or alternative defects.
Experience designing, assembling, and testing optical and spin control setups using lasers, cryogenic systems, and RF electronics.
Proficiency in programming laboratory equipment and analyzing data for spin-based experiments.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
6+ years of hands-on research experience with a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on solid-state quantum systems or nuclear spin physics.
Expertise in quantum spin control techniques, including T1, Rabi, Ramsey, CPMG, and randomized benchmarking experiments.
Skilled in designing and taping out RF and MW CMOS ICs optimized for low-temperature integration with quantum devices.
Proficiency in using modeling software such as HFSS for electromagnetic simulations and circuit design.
Knowledge of quantum repeater architectures and strategies for entanglement distribution.
Experience on a team that has developed and shipped a product.
